How SyncHub collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: August 2, 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains what information SyncHubcollects, why, and how it's handled. SyncHub is built on Appwrite, which provides authentication, database, storage, and realtime infrastructure for the app.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored securely by Appwrite, never in plain text) when you register.
- Profile and settings — preferences such as profile visibility and guest media permissions.
- Documents and files — files you upload, along with metadata needed to preview, search, and share them.
- Connections — the list of people you're connected with, and pending connection requests.
- Device pairing data — short-lived pairing tokens and device identifiers used to link a new device to your session.
- Guest session data — temporary identifiers and media streams used to connect guest participants. This data is not tied to an account when using Quick Connect, and is wiped when the session ends.
- Session cookies — a session cookie is used to keep you signed in and to verify your session on protected pages.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the service — authentication, sync, sharing, and realtime updates.
- To let you pair devices and deliver documents to the people you've chosen to share with.
- To enforce permissions, such as who can send you connection requests or download what you share.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How data is stored and secured
Data is stored using Appwrite's database, storage, and auth services. Access to documents and connections is enforced through permission checks on the server — client applications never query the database directly. Sessions are validated on every request to protected routes.
5. Data retention
Account data, documents, and connections are retained until you delete them or close your account. Device pairing tokens expire shortly after issuance. Guest session data and media are deleted when the session ends.
6. Sharing of information
Documents are only shared with connections you've explicitly approved, subject to the permissions you set. We don't share your personal information with third parties except as needed to operate the service (such as our backend infrastructure provider) or where required by law.
7. Your choices
- Update your profile visibility and guest media permissions from Settings.
- Remove a connection at any time to stop future sharing.
- Delete documents you've uploaded.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
8. Children's privacy
SyncHubis not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above.
